With 10 matchups tested at once, some will look lopsided by chance. The most uneven one, Nord vs Sarranid (61–85), is not significant once you correct for testing 10 matchups (Bonferroni).

Why this is a fair test

Most tier lists are opinions, or statistics from games where players choose their faction, which mixes the faction with the players who like it. In Warband Premier nobody chooses: the matchmaker assigns a random pair of factions to every match, and captains pick balanced teams. That makes the record a natural experiment. If one faction were stronger, it would show up as a higher win rate here.

Limits: one competitive community, Native factions without Khergit, and team skill is balanced by the captain pick, so these results speak about evenly matched ranked play, not public servers or duels.

Questions

What is the best faction in Mount & Blade: Warband multiplayer?

In 1,403 ranked 6v6 matches with randomly assigned factions, no faction was statistically stronger. Rhodok had the highest win rate (51.6%) and Swadia the lowest (48.7%), a gap well within random noise.

Is there a Warband faction tier list for competitive play?

Not one supported by our data. Win rates range from 48.7%–51.6% and a chi-square test gives 1.44 against a 5% threshold of 11.07.

How were the factions chosen in these matches?

Players do not pick them. The Warband Premier matchmaker draws a random pair from Swadia, Vaegir, Nord, Rhodok and Sarranid for every match, so the faction cannot reflect who is better.
